Heritage Guest House in Old Perithiaby David & Marieke Video
The Merchant's House in Old Perithia is a magical place to base your Corfu adventure.
Set in the 14th-century Venetian village, you will be welcomed to our 300-year-old recently restored heritage guest house. You will experience the historical traditions and modern comforts of a peaceful mountain retreat, with instant access to some of the best hiking and cycling trails the island has to offer. It is one of the most inspiring locations on the Corfu Trail and a 15-minutes car ride away from beautiful sandy beaches.
The five mountain tavernas in the village will have you spoilt for choice with authentic Corfiot specialities, while our delicious homemade breakfast will make sure you are well-fuelled for the day ahead. Don’t forget to explore many of the area’s beautiful sights, such as the local honey farms, the Megali Grava cave, the stunning vistas of Mount Pantokrator – the highest point in Corfu, and many more.
The three houses that comprise the Merchant’s House were built in the 1800s and were passed down in local families for generations until the 1950s, when the village was abandoned. In 2011, they were all lovingly restored and transformed into six independent suites.

SightseeingFrom local gems to road trips that whisk you away for the day, Corfu has an abundance of choice for things to do and explore.
We are David and Marieke, originally Australian and Dutch, who have lived in many different parts of the world, including Athens.
We fell in love with Old Perithia and want to show everyone who comes to Corfu what it is like to be away from the crowds in a mountain village. We both have worked in the hotel industry for many years and are now excited to run our own boutique guesthouse.
We particularly enjoy the ‘JOMO’ feel of this area – ‘The Joy of Missing Out’. One really feels you are away from it all, free from distraction and living in the ‘now’. You choose where the day takes you and where your time and thoughts go.
